There is No War in Ba Sing Se

From the world of "Avatar: The Last Airbender", Ba Sing Se is a city in the Earth Kingdom, where the rulers keep the citizens ignorant of the war raging outside the city's giant stone walls. The character of the Cabbage Merchant is part of a recurring running gag throughout the series. Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the cartoon first aired on Nickelodeon Channel in 2005, running three seasons till the end of the saga in 2008. The critically acclaimed, award-winning series is noted for its sweeping storyline and deep character development, and touches on a vast array of subjects including: war, genocide, sexism, gender roles, imperialism, totalitarianism, class warfare, political corruption, indoctrination, animal cruelty, fate, and freedom of choice.
