Word Salad was a technique we used early on as the models (1.4, 1.5) were responsive to it. '&' is used to give a Prompt a kick, turn it up a notch etc. If you have a prompt (1.5 and to a lesser degree 2.1) that's 'stuck' add the ampersand in front and all I can promise is that the result will be Different.
