At my Favorite Record Store

music was so much more back then. it was the sound, of course, but it was also the patchouli and cedar smell of the store and the ink on paper smell (if anyone else noticed). It was the physical albums (even the stacked tapes) and flipping through them (especially if they were used). The visual imagery the artist and label chose. It brought the album together like a chapter in the band's story but also in my life and the cast of characters we surrounded ourselves with. And it brought all of these very distinct groups together whether you were looking for Metallica or the Smiths they all came together and had one thing they all had in common. The Record Store.
