Ymir, the First Being

Born of a meeting of fire and ancient ice in the heart of the Yawning Void, the first-born of all beings came into life. This was Ymir, progenitor of the race of giants, and he was adrift in the Void until he was slain by the Sons of Borr, and his body repurposed into the crafting of Miðgarð.

This image is much closer to how I imagined Ymir than my first attempt to depicting him.
