The Celestine Pine

In areas of the forest where conifers outnumber broadleaved species, amongst the redwoods, strange stout pines grow. These pines are famous for their large candle-like serotinous cones that can burn for hours (and need to to get the seeds or nuts to germinate). Whilst burning these cones emit an almost cleansing smell that many love but many more love the seeds or pine-nuts inside the cones and use them to make bread or biscuits.
