To me, the spirit of Pennsylvania can be summarized best in the translation of the name of it's most famous city: Philadelphia. "Brotherly love." Lovingkindness was exemplified in it's founder, William Penn, a humble Quaker man with strong convictions who believed in democracy and religious freedom. He established the Province of Pennsylvania to be a home for all people, no matter who they were or what they believed. No matter what trials he faced he did not compromise his vision, his dream to see a place where people could be truly free without judgement or persecution. Based on my experiences in Pennsylvania, I feel this mission of his was accomplished.
