Walter Crane

Walter Crane (1845 – 1915) was a renowned artist from England, known for his distinctive contributions to children's illustrated literature. He was a key figure in the Arts and Crafts and the Art Nouveau movements. Crane's work was characterised by vibrant and detailed motifs, often depicting children in garden settings. His art techniques were influenced by Japanese colour prints, which he replicated in a series of toy books. In addition to this, he produced a variety of paintings, illustrations, ceramic tiles, and wallpapers. Crane's unique style was influenced by medieval wood engravers and illuminated books, reflecting the aesthetic trends of the Arts and Crafts movement.
