The Island was almost upon them now. There was a loud CRACK and the ship tilted to one side, as sharp cliffs from the sea rose like jagged teeth. The storm gathered on the horizon like a dark beast awakening, its thunderous growls rolling across the water. The ship creaked under the pressure of violent waves thrashing, rising higher blocking the view of the island. Sheets of rain fell, soaking their gear as they all held tight to the rigging against the violent sway. Overhead, the wind howled, twisting through the ropes and sails like a wild creature, warning them of the fury yet to come.
“This is no ordinary storm.” Dex managed to lift himself up from the deck he had hit hard onto, looking at the monstrous island that had appeared for a second.
“Thanks, Captain Obvious!” Kai tried to shout over the wind. “Now, help me secure the hatches!”
