The ship creaked and groaned under the force. Then came a deafening crack of thunder, a sudden gust tearing at their sails and sending ropes snapping and flapping wildly. The boat hit a rock and lurched. Finn lost his balance as the boat pitched, his pack spilling supplies across the deck. He scrambled, his hands reaching for something to hold onto.
A monstrous wave surged over the side, sweeping across the deck.
“Finn!” Sam cried as she desperately tried to grab his arm. Not being able to grab anything, he was flung from the ship into the angry, churning ocean.
“Finn’s overboard!” Kai yelled to the others, fumbling with the knot, struggling to get the rope untied. The storm’s fury made it difficult to see or hear anything beyond the relentless waves crashing to and fro.
“Finn!” Dex leaned over the side, squinting into the swirling chaos, but all he could see were waves, churning and violent.
