Coastal Rhythms (Babylon Sisters)

"Coastal Rhythms" is my visual interpretation of the soulful journey described in Steely Dan's "Babylon Sisters." Drawing inspiration from the song's lyrics and evocative melodies, I aimed to capture the spirit of exploration and companionship experienced during a drive along the coastal highway. Through the medium of linocut printmaking, I meticulously carved each detail, from the vintage car to the swaying palm trees, imbuing the artwork with a sense of nostalgia and adventure. The presence of the enigmatic woman in the passenger seat adds a layer of intrigue to the composition, inviting viewers to imagine their own stories unfolding against the backdrop of the scenic coastal route. With "Coastal Rhythms," I hope to evoke a sense of wanderlust and romanticism, encouraging viewers to embark on their own journey of discovery along life's open road.
