Jaguar (Panthera onca)

The jaguar is the largest cat species in the Americas and third largest globally. It has a body length of up to 1.85 m and can weigh up to 158 kg. Jaguars face threats like habitat loss, fragmentation, poaching for body parts, and conflicts with humans, especially ranchers. This has led to its classification as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List since 2002, with a decline in the wild population since the late 1990s.
