Sweet image! I never could befriend the crows in my backyard at our last home for eighteen years. They didn't like me and I'd often get cawed at when I went out. Crows and raccoons do NOT like each other and because mama raccoons with their kits often visited during the day, the crows would see me interacting with one of their worse enemies. There was no way they'd ever trust me. It was kind of funny really and I can't blame them for being extra cautious. 

i had no idea that crows hate raccoons! we have both come to the yard. the crows even try to eat from the bird feeders, which is so funny since they are way too big for the feeders! LOL ... but, i've never tried to befriend the crows that come.

Raccoons are excellent climbers and I've seen nests, or the remnants, of crows in some of the very tall trees bordering my former backyard. I've occasionally seen raccoons high in those trees. The only reason I could see was to raid the crows' nest. Or maybe they were after squirrel nests as  we have plenty of squirrels. Whatever their reasons, I'd be alerted to them by the awful ruckus crows made. Crows from all about - and we have plenty of them too -would come to join in. When I saw that many crows with more coming and the noise that was made, I knew it was either a raccoon or a hawk they were targeted. I'd watch the epicentre for a bit to find out which one it was.

You know how some love to people-watch, especially their interactions? I love to animal watch, both the same species together, and when two or more different species together. One, it's highly entertaining and sometimes VERY funny, and two, I've learned so much that you'd never find written in books anywhere!
