In the afternoon, they came across a large farm. Desperately in need of supplies, they watched from a patch of trees nearby. The farm was bustling with activity. The farmer, a big, strong squirrel, was commanding a group of younger squirrels, likely his offspring. As they observed, an old, scrawny mouse approached the farm and asked for some water and perhaps a bit of food. The farmer was called over and they could hear his response clearly: "What? Why would you think I have water or food for you? Do I look like I can feed the whole world? I don't feed beggars!" He pointed to the road, dismissing the mouse. The old mouse walked away with a sad look, head hanging low. "What an unpleasant fellow," Julia remarked, still staring at the farmer.
