She approached the statue, gazing at its obsidian visage. The mirror was between it's stone hands, she'd never seen it removed, but was educated in its usage: an ancient augury tool, forged by the ealflae Amerhleyne, supposedly the subject of the statue.
She brought the mirror to the tower's eyrie.
"Amerhleyne, wind daughter, eyes of pearlescent seas, draw the still curtain, expose the marrow of the ninefold web.."
She paused and drew a steadying breath, steeling her nerve.
"Bring forth the tyrant born of shadow, horn and righteous hate. Bring forth the black sun that eclipses the world.. Bring forth Baratoum."
The deep amber surface glowed with a baleful light, silent silver lightning cracked over the mirror. She released it reflexively, but it stayed before her in the air. A terrible beautiful avatar appeared, a curious smile that rose into a visage of arrogant pure power.
"Who are you?" He asked languidly.
"Your equal. Your queen." She raised her chin.
