Exodus 17:5-6 Moses obeys God and strikes the rock to provide water for the thirsting Israelites.  Numbers 20 Moses disobeys God by striking the rock instead of speaking to it to bring forth water again for the Israelites at a different time. As a result of Moses' disobedience, he was not allowed to enter the promised land.  Both times, history shows how when we take our eyes off God and what our journey is about, we do not enjoy the blessings God has for us while still here on this Earth.
