Mesopotamian Cosmology

The Mesopotamian creation myth. The lower half features the Abzu, an infinite, crystalline subterranean ocean filled with glowing blue freshwater, ancient Sumerian ruins, and luminescent bioluminescent aquatic life. The upper half shows the Heavens, a vast, arching, glittering dome made of sapphire and tin, illuminated by golden stars, nebulae, and floating celestial bodies. Ethereal atmospheric mist connecting the two shows glimpses of the surface of the earth, with mountains and rivers.
