It has the same meaning as words like, "Hooray", or "Hurrah". To my understanding, the word "Hurrah" is not often used in English, but it's understood as such. I also understand that "Hurrah" may be used in other languages, typically those spoken in Europe - would that apply to you? I'm not sure what your primary language is. Good conversation!

I'm always happy when I learn something new about languages, so thank you very much! German is my native language. "Hurra(h)" also exists in German, although it is a bit outdated, but is also understood. “Yay” also exists in German as an exclamation of joy, but only verbally, not as a written word, so I was unsure. Otherwise, “yeah” is common in my environment or a long drawn out “Jaaa!” (pronounced with [a:] as in English "father"; "ja" is the German word for "yes").
