There was no symbiote pouch in the Jaffa’s stomach!
“That’s odd,” Larkin said. He checked the next Jaffa. Nothing.
“Check the Jaffa near yourselves guys for a symbiote pouch, but be careful,” he said.
Each of SG-24 and the Seabees checked the Jaffa near them. With the exception of the Stag, none of the Jaffa had symbiote pouches.
“Now we’ve got a mystery on our hands. The only pouchless Jaffa the SGC have ever encountered were Ra’s Jaffa on his mothership on Abydos,” McClendon said.
“And those SG-X kids SG-1 encountered,” Larkin added. “I want Tyra to check them out. “Let’s bring them back to base.” He tapped his comms.
“Helena, come in.”
“Helena here, sir,” the Carmelite replied.
“Have Godrick send an even number of his men to us. We need them to bring dead Jaffa into the base. Tyra needs to examine them.”

“Wilco.” As soon as Helena got off the air Bjornson came on.
“Colonel, it’s Bjornson. Eule and I have scouted the area. No hostiles in sight.”
“Copy,” Larkin replied. “Return to base when you’re finished.”
“Aye sir.”
Fairbairn arrived with Pfluger. Larkin noticed his XO’s wound.
“You okay?” he asked.
“Just a graze,” Fairbairn replied. “Still hurts like hell. I’ll have Dr. MacGregor look me over when we get back to base. Still, I’m lucky to be alive.”
“Indeed,” Larkin said. He sighed. Whoever this Goa’uld was, she was clever. Now the battle was joined.
