Germania in the 1st century AD: In a village on the river Lippe a girl is born who is destined for a great future: Veleda, seeress of the Germanic tribes. The name carries both honour and burden. Veleda will never have a husband and children, but will live alone in a tower and predict the future for the Germanic tribes. When she prophesied victory for them during the Batavian uprising against the Romans, the Germanic tribes worshipped her like a goddess.
