Jogah - Iroquois folklore fey

The Jogah are small elf like spirits from Iroquois tradition who dwell in wild untouched places such as deep forests quiet hills hidden springs and sacred stones. A single Jogah stands no taller than a young child with smooth bark colored skin long dark hair and bright watchful eyes that seem older than the land itself. It wears clothes woven from moss feathers or leaves and moves with such quiet grace that even dry twigs do not crack beneath its feet.

Though shy the Jogah are never far from those who walk with respect. They are said to guide lost travelers whisper healing secrets to those who listen or stir sudden winds when the forest is disturbed. Many believe that to catch a glimpse of one is a sign of being welcome in the spirit of the land though they vanish as quickly as they appear. Their laughter sometimes rises at twilight faint and fleeting like birdsong lost in the trees.
