Princess Yuanling was born beneath a moon that refused to wane. The orchids bloomed out of season the day she spoke her first word—“listen.” Not to voices, but to silence. She walks the gardens of the forgotten emperors, where petals fall like secrets and every breeze carries a promise. The sash around her waist binds more than silk—it holds the map to a vanished kingdom, one that reappears only when the cherry blossoms fall in reverse.

The Princess and the Orchids:

Princess Yuanling carried the most delicate burden in the celestial kingdom: negotiating the dawn. Every morning, clad in a silk kimono embroidered with cherry tree shadows, she stood at the edge of the midnight well, awaiting the arrival of the Moon (Chang'e). The Moon, always capricious and grumpy at the thought of retreating, demanded tribute. Yuanling, her dark hair studded with pink Phalaenopsis like those in the celestial vault, presented her offering.
