Every Saturday, my Dad and I would go to the hog store and get a week's worth of hog parts. And they got put to good use!
My mom made so many useful hats from the pig skin...ah, but those days are gone...
Then Hormel and Smithfield came along and ruined everything...sigh...

Relatedly, hard to find a leather bound book anymore.
We didn’t have a store; we had to go the auction and buy the whole pig and part it out ourselves. 🫤
