Beautiful as always. 🌹 Congratulations, MimTev!
You also might like one version of the other simply because of the direction she is facing. Yours is right, his is left.
I've often found when I've worked to recreate an image I quite like, with or without the prompt, I often end up with the subject facing the opposite direction which initially strikes me as not as good as the original that I'm working to make.
Of course that can easily be addressed by a left-right transpose, which you probably already know.
I feel that both of them are very good—yours and his.
I find yours stronger in the three colors—red. amber eyes, blue—because of the brighter glow in your eyes.
His hits hard because the 1:1 square format gave her more room to breathe and bring a greater immediacy through controlling more of the frame, even if he cropped off the top of her head to fit her all in. A rookie mistake when you're a photographer—not getting tops of heads and feet—but an effective technique for an artist.
His three-quarter view of her is a good technique that he may have ask for intentionally, while your more confrontational view from her is more arresting.
And that strand of hair you got fully across her face and mouth is powerful because of clearly which direction the wind is blowing.
So what approach did you use to create yours, given that he wasn't sharing his prompt?
