The room fell silent as the Seer began to speak, "Kaliméra, children. I appreciate you all meeting with me today," her gaze swept over the group. "I have an important announcement to make regarding the safety of our kingdom and your future as well."
The Seer continued, "As I am sure many of you know, Nkri Epilegméno, or selection day, happens once a year, where three children between the ages of eleven and eighteen are chosen to serve our kingdom against forces both of this world and not."
A lump formed in my throat. This was too familiar, too close to something I couldn't quite remember. It was getting harder to breathe, the room closing in around me. Theon looked at me with concern, his eyes searching my face for an answer.
"As of now, our kingdom is facing certain dangers," the Seer continued, "This can only-"
She was interrupted by a bang that echoed through the room. Heads snapped towards the door as it swung open, revealing a figure silhouetted against the bright sunlight.
