This is (using her original name) Aurora's horse that she meets in the beginning of the story, Benedetta. She named the horse after her nurse from her time on Earth. Horses only occur naturally in the most northern desert, she is a tamed horse. She takes Benedetta from a lowly bandit that she sees along the merchant road, who is beating Benedetta because she is tired. Benedetta proves to be a strong and capable ally to Aurora, and is a dear friend even after Aurora receives a new mount and gains a new name.
