Very nice! Would like to know your op on the Pierneef part: the colouring of the sky and the style observed in the distance have worked quite well I think. On the other hand I would think the foreground seems to be too photorealistic to match his style? Nevertheless, still a nice pic and the Jakaranda' s are superb

Hi Oistar.  Assuming "op" = opinion, I agree with your take.  Reading the revised prompt, it's almost as though Imagen regarded the foreground and background as distinct projects.  Truth be told, I picked this out of several I binned only because of the palm tree on the left.  It was totally unprompted, totally unexpected, and I would never have said they were characteristic of Pretoria, but there are several large ones on the Meintjieskop ridge (where the Union Buildings are situated).

I assume you know about the standing exhibition of his work at La Motte (Franschhoek)?  I further assume that it is still a standing exhibition as their website makes reference to a "Pierneef experience" as though he endorsed their wine and restaurant-offerings too.  It was eye-opening to see how diverse his work actually is.  I associate his name with those hazy landscapes with dusty skies and thunder-heads.  From what I've learned on NC, I assume that these "typical Pierneef effects" were attributable to his use of casein paint.  My mind still cannot quite grasp the idea of cheese-protein paint 😖
