Being the oldest out of the trio, Val is very stern and non-talkative. Seeing things most people can't and it is not like paranormal and biblical things. Seeing chains around most people shows what is dragging them down. Whether a person is chained to themselves shows how the person weighs themselves down until it feels they have no freedom, whatever they do.
