A few steps further (about ten meters, for me) I found another house carved out of a root. It was beautiful: the door was ornate, and the glass embedded in the wood shone like crystal (and maybe it was!).

Mushrooms of the most varied shapes grew everywhere, making it almost indistinguishable from its surroundings. It was topped by a recent addition (moss had not yet arrived there), also made from the wood of the tree root.

It was beautiful. In excitement, I took a flurry of photographs.

Shortly afterwards I came across an even more beautiful House, although very small. It was an integral part of an oak tree and had richly ornamented glass on the doors and windows.

In order to be able to photograph it, I lay down completely on the ground, and for a moment I thought I caught a glimpse of movement behind one of the panes -- but they reflected so well that they looked almost like mirrors, so I'm not sure.

I got up and continued in the direction indicated by the Burgomaster. Soon, the clouds cleared and the day became clear and crisp.

I still did not know it, but from there on I would not find any other low, horizontal Houses.
