A thorough scan of the vessel confirmed the suspicion the Captain already knew to be true. No life signs onboard. He did one last cautious sensor sweep of the area, before navigating his ship in to dock with The ADF Turing.
It took him a couple minutes to gear up. With his vacuum rated light armor snapped into place, and a short barreled rifle, fit for CQC and clearing, connected to his crossbody strap, he was ready. The doors hissed as his airlocks pressurized with the Turing’s and opened.
The sight inside was unsettling, lights flickered as the hull was laid open with frayed wires and all manner of disarray. The Captain readied his rifle and slowly stepped into what he was sure to be the crew’s tomb.
Step by step, he swept the military vessel until it was secure. Empty. Not a soul onboard. With a slow mechanical exhale from his helmet, his shoulders grew less tense. Though the eerie feeling as if something lingered, watching, he just couldn’t shake.
