I'll never understand it and I don't really care about the reasons to do it. I also know that the people who do downvote every other entry (with that I mean downvoting entries that fit the theme and are not a complete graphic failures) won't read this or care.
But I needed to vent about it ... Sadly not the first time. It is tiring and ruining the fun for everyone else. Especially in smaller challenges where a tiny number of downvoters pull the numbers down without a chance to really counteract this ... Are these 3-5 Credits you MIGHT win really worth it???
How about you like and comment on newbies creations instead every day, gives you 5 credits guaranteed and karma points as well.
I am aware that I am way too unimportant to have this even reach many people and my challenges are tiny. But know this if you enter my challenges: I will no longer tip the top three, but (a) personal favourite of mine from below the top three, that meets the requirements, regardless of the ratings.

Thank you for posting this. What downvoters don't realize is that it's counterproductive to the whole idea of having fun with challenges. Challenges are supposed to be fun, not a grim exercise in winning at all costs.
I’ve been on NC since late October and keep on seeing downvoting on entries. I totally agree with you.

I agree completely. I think these downvoters are hoping to hurt the score of some of the best images. When I see the results and images 11-30 were far better than 1-10 its obvious someone has been trying to pollute the scores. I think something that would fix it is multiplying someone's score by the average score that they assign to others. I've seen a few of my best start with an average score of below a 2 and still bounce back and finish in the top 10% in dailies, so its probably just a few bad applies trying to spoil the whole Apple pie - let's not let them!
