For Daniel Harper, it was the day he had been preparing for his whole life.

In the depths of the city’s underground sector, Daniel moved swiftly through the tight corridors, his mind racing. His underground church had gotten word of the NGF's mobilization hours ago—an all-out manhunt had begun. Anyone suspected of rebellion, of dissent, or of still holding on to the old faith was a target. The Unifier had declared it: conquest would come to the traitors.

The radio on his hip crackled to life as one of his scouts whispered hurriedly through the static.

"They're coming, Daniel. Drones and soldiers, closing in on the south tunnels. They’re tearing apart the district, house by house."

Daniel clenched his teeth. The hunt was on. He had known this day would come—the day when the NGF would finally turn all its might on the last pockets of resistance. But knowing didn’t make it easier. His father had fought against this same regime, and now it was Daniel’s turn to carry the weight of the rebellion on his shoulders.

“Get everyone to the fallback points,” Daniel ordered, his voice steady despite the rising tension. “No one engages until we’re clear. They’ll be expecting an ambush, so we need to stay two steps ahead.”

The radio crackled again, but the response was drowned out by the distant sound of heavy boots and the unmistakable whir of drones buzzing through the air. They were close.

Daniel didn’t waste any more time. He grabbed his pack, checking his weapons and gear before slipping out of the old warehouse that had served as their sanctuary for months. The Lower City was a maze of dark alleys, abandoned factories, and hidden passageways—perfect for those who needed to disappear. But today, it would become a battleground.

As Daniel made his way through the shadowed streets, the sound of the NGF soldiers grew louder. The city was alive with the hum of their conquest, and everywhere he looked, Daniel saw their black-clad forms moving in formation, their weapons drawn, their eyes scanning every corner for signs of the insurgents they had come to crush.

_July 18th, 2060 — New Los Angeles, Lower City_

The streets of New Los Angeles were filled with noise—people shouting, neon signs flickering, drones buzzing through the air. Life in the Lower City, below the grand domes and towering spires of the wealthy districts above, carried on as usual. But there was a new tension in the air, something that sent shivers down the spines of those who had learned to survive in the shadows.

The New Global Federation was on the move.

Down here, in the forgotten alleys and crumbling buildings of the Lower City, the NGF had sent its soldiers. They moved in tight formations, their black uniforms gleaming under the pale glow of the streetlights, their eyes hidden behind reflective visors. The manhunt had begun—orders had come from the highest levels of the NGF to root out the dissenters, to find those who still defied the Unifier’s command, and to crush them under the iron heel of conquest.
