With new resolve Clara donned the welding googles, unsheathed the sonic and set out to work. A working gravity manipulator should allow them to withstand the extreme gravitational forces when passing by the black holes without being caught in the pull and being spaghettified.
Disgusted, she stopped, turned the sonic in her hand, and imagined her fingers, her limbs and her neck growing in length, growing, growing, never stopping. This must be a curious feeling, shutting up like a telescope!
And who would put on her shoes and stockings for her? She would be so drawn out by then she would have to send her feet a parcel with a pair of boots every Christmas.
Clara chuckled at the thought, wiggled her toes happily, and continued her repairs.

Great title and terrific writing. I suspect that Clara might play the part of Alice in this tale that you are weaving. 👍
