🎶 "Vesti la giubba, la faccia infarina!" ("Wear your jacket, flour your face!")
The opera “I Pagliacci” ("The Clowns") was composed by Ruggiero Leoncavallo in 1892. It was premiered on May 21, 1892, at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, Italy.
It's the sad and tragic story of Canio, a clown. The famous aria "Vesti la giubba" (Wear your jacket) is known all over the world and has its apex in the tragic "Ridi, Pagliaccio!" ("Laugh, Clown!") sung by the tenor to emphasize the sadness that reigns beneath the layer of white makeup.
