Why does every language have some expression about pigs? Is it because of the history of farming that’s present just about everywhere?

British say pigs might fly, which i guess is the same thing

Yup, I think that's the British equivalent. Apparently Europeans have a thing for pigs and other animals when it comes to weird sayings. I could make at least 10 more of those, but it wastes too many credits to get them halfway right. 

A German phrase used when you experience something you can't believe is true, is outrageous etc. A whistling pig is as unbelievable...hence the phrase.
