She is the sole heir to the Golden Throne, but has not been allowed to ascend for fifty years due to her inability to take flight in her humanoid form or her draconic form, inability to cast any type of magic, and her open views on human/lessers enslavement and treatment. She was set to be mated to the male heir of a neighboring kingdom until he passed away under “mysterious circumstances”. Everyone views her as a weak, inferior being who needs to be married off and silenced.

In reality, she is one of the strongest sorcerers of her generation, but when her mother saw her potential, she sealed her powers away so she couldn’t threaten her own power. Training in secrecy, she’s also an extremely competent alchemist and swordsman thanks to the captain of the guard and the Head Alchemist (who are married) having quite the soft spot for her. But her real secret? She can fly just fine. She’s just afraid of heights.
