The skies were overcast with a somber grey canvas,
Stretched as far as the eye could see.
The soft pattering drops of clear liquid glass
Fell like weeping tears of the sea.
A pouring curtain amidst ebony mystery
Of spaces barely known
A trail to the heart of misery
A way never shown.
He was standing there, alone she saw,
Hearing a haunting call
The answer, unwitnessed, and raw
Reflected in the eyes of all.
The hooded coat, a shadow’s guise
Did not take her by surprise
She asked why he watched with downcast eyes
