City of Slow Shadows: Doctor Jakob Draxinger Thinks Alicia's Anti-Social Psychosis Can Only Be Cured With Drugs and Extensive Brain Surgery

In the Sunless City, The Charles Burke Children's Asylum is a must for young people suffering alienation and feeble-mindedness. Doctor Draxinger has perfected a technique to cure unruly estranged children of their mental maladies. Alicia O'Malley is a severe case: defiant attitudes towards authority figures, bouts of depression, and an unhealthy habit of writing poetry and drawing instead of completing schoolwork. The right drugs and a series of surgeries to cut out diseased brain matter should make her a productive member of society. Otherwise, says the Doctor, she should be locked away so she cannot hurt herself or anyone else. Author's Note: I took two versions of the image and overlaid them on the Photopia site, then erased portions of the doctor's face on the top image to give it a mangled look. I colored in his eyes and drew the blood myself.
