THE PUMPKIN GUILD (polyphonic prose story)

The 'Pumpkin Guild' declared, "It will be such frightening fun. This year, our Halloween trick won't ever be outdone. Those people will all shriek and run. We'll just use some old, worn out human threads. We'll send a scarecrow up and over all their mankind heads. Us fire pumpkins will float it by, just so humans will wonder why. It will look just like a scary guy, flying high up in the sky." There was only one problem with their silly plan. A fire-pumpkin outshines any pretend, mock man. No townsfolk even took notice of their whimsical joke. With that bright, gigantic Jack-o'Lantern floating in the night. All the people glared and stared at that great spooky pumpkin light. The guild stopped playing their silly tricks at Halloween. The humans still carve their pumpkins to look like what was seen.
