Waitress Piper 3.0 (Football novel)

Piper's a quiet kid, a good kid, the black Muslim hostess at the country club restaurant whose father is an American veteran who married an ethnic Muslim from the former Yugoslavia and converted.

She goes to school, she goes to work, and that's it. Her father has the convert's zeal and is more conservative and dogmatic than her mother by far.

Piper helps the gang uncover some key evidence to the misdeeds of Coach Lonnie Lockhart and his sycophants, and she's there for Charlie at a key moment in his story arc when no one else is.

When her mother gets tired of the military man's attitude, Piper opts to put her hijab aside for a while and be "a normal teenager" for a while, which has its ups and downs.

She should be lighter in complexion, but the new prompt for the football novel doesn't see liminal spaces very well.

The racists would just see her as black, anyway. They always do.
