Finnish Fuel (Coffee and Sisu)

Cycling on snow and ice is possible, especially if you switch to studded tires. The biggest problem comes in severe frost, when the bike’s lubricants start to freeze. I used to cycle all my commutes, whatever the weather.

This is an illustration for my blog post about the Finnish concept of “sisu”. The image also includes themes I have discussed earlier, such as the sauna whisk, and coffee. A Moomin character has also slipped onto the side of a coffee mug, a subject I may explore in later writings.
