The Male Form: Celtic

Our theme this week is “Celtic,” celebrating the rich cultural heritage and masculine beauty of men from Celtic traditions both ancient and modern. We’re looking for artwork that captures the powerful mystique of Celtic men.

Picture a Pictish warrior poised for battle, his powerful form adorned with nothing but intricate blue woad spirals that accentuate the curves of his muscles and the broadness of his shoulders, a gleaming torc around his neck catching the dawn light as he stands fearless before his enemies. Or perhaps you’ll be drawn to a Celtic musician lost in the passion of performance, shirt discarded in the heat of a festival night, as he pounds out ancient rhythms that seem to pulse through his entire body

The choice of era and Celtic tradition are yours. The only constraints are that your image represent one or more men, that he or they embody some aspect of Celtic culture or heritage, and that your image celebrate the beauty of the male form.
