Stippling is one of the most quietly obsessive art techniques out there – entire images built from nothing but dots. Thousands of them. Today we want to see what happens when that meticulous, pointillist approach gets applied to any subject you love, from portraits to landscapes to wildlife. •••••
Examples of on-theme creations could include:
- A large animal portrait, a bear or an elephant, where every contour and shadow is made entirely of dense dot clusters
- A sprawling cityscape rendered in stippling where the density of dots alone creates depth and atmosphere
- A close-up botanical illustration of a single flower built from intricate dot work that makes it look almost scientific
- A human portrait where the dots are loose and visible up close but snap into a striking face from a distance
When creating your art, consider the following criteria:
- Creativity: Does your take on the theme feel original?
- Visual Impact: Is the image eye-catching and well put together?
- Relevance to Theme: Is the theme clear without needing explanation?
