In the pilot, Mira Furlan was supposed to play the Minbari ambassador Delenn as a man (https://www.reddit.com/r/TVDetails/comments/6srhah/in_babylon_5_pilot_delenn_has_facial_prosthetics/ ↗️). The voice changer didn't work, so they changed the concept to a man with a woman's voice or a woman looking like a man, they left this open for the audience. At the end of the first season, weaving himself into a cocoon, he was originally planned not only to change into what he did in the TV-show in the second season, but additionally into a woman. However, Mira Furlan had difficulties acting with the prosthetics, so they changed the male Delenn of the pilot into a completely female Delenn in the following episode already.
