People say love walks into your life. Funny mine came running. The world calls you my pet. My heart retired that title the day it promoted you to family. You never ask where I've been. You simply celebrate that I've come back. Perhaps that's why coming home was never a place. it was always someone waiting at the door. You don't read my mind. You proofread my soul, finding every place life misspelled joy. then quietly correcting it. I've watched people spend a lifetime looking for unconditional love. while mine has been asleep at my feet. God didn't give us pets because they needed a family. He gave us family that happened to arrive on four little paws. If someone asks me what Heaven feels like. I'll smile, because I've already held a little piece of it every time you've run into my arms.
