I have a character who is a Nightmare Fairy, Duna and this is her realm\home\where she lives all of the other fairies are afraid of the shadows while Duna found them fascinating and beautiful so she became the "Keeper of Nightmares" and she is very evil if anyone goes to her realm she will make nightmares for only them to see and when her victim is scared and under her control that's when she attacks\kills her victim.
