Best Friends Forever... Part 1

It's one of those great mysteries in life when an extrovert decides to adopt a shy introvert.

I guess it's kinda like how sometimes the universe randomly distributes cats. One moment you're walking through life minding your own business, the next some little fur-ball kitten has managed to climb up your leg and mew with determination as if to say "You! I choose you! Now take me with you!"

Except in my case, instead of a cat, the universe sent a girl with alternative tastes, a penchant for dark clothes, and highlights in her hair. She was cute and fun-loving with a dash of chaos, so I guess in whatever distribution system the powers that be had established, the two weren't that different in the end.

Her name was Nikki Graves and for a time, she was my best friend...
