Thx for the follow … you have a nice set of stylistic variations here. Good to see that you're not tied to one particular style - experimenting leads to progress (which - hopefully - leads to money), yes?

I'm not expecting to make any money off this. But, from early on, I've worked on the assumption that if someone glances at my profile for the first time, it is in my own best interests to have a wide variety of subject matter and styles readily available in the first few rows that they see.

In other words: If they simply don't care about a comic art creation starring a superhero, perhaps they will enjoy a photorealistic creation of a sorceress in a medieval fantasy world. If that doesn't appeal to them either, perhaps they will enjoy a watercolor painting in the style of Norman Rockwell. And so forth. I feel this approach improves the odds that the newcomer will spot something that actually appeals to their personal tastes, and then they may take the trouble to scroll down a few rows and see if there's anything else that also grabs them, and eventually they may decide to follow me . . . if they feel interested in keeping an eye on what I do in the future.

Created on impulse, using a private LoRA I created shortly after I started here on NC. I haven't used it for several months -- new models have come along which usually suit my needs when I want to do comic art  -- but I decided to use it again just to see how it went.

Very loosely inspired by "The Painted Skin", a short story by the Chinese writer Pu Songling collected in Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio in 1740. Literary critics have recognised it as one of the best and best-known entries in Strange Tales; in particular, its textual detail and in-depth characterisation are lauded. "The Painted Skin" has also received numerous adaptations in popular media, especially in film. The story's original title has become a common phrase in Chinese vocabulary, "a synonym for duplicity that wears an outwardly human face but is inwardly demonic".

Set in Shandong, the story revolves around a Chinese scholar, Wang, who becomes infatuated with a demon disguised as a beautiful young maiden. They develop a romantic relationship which goes awry after Wang discovers her true identity. Thereafter, a Taoist priest's skills are put to the task of exorcising the demon; a fight between good and evil ensues.
