When things have to be done in reverse

Jenni’s plane is cutting through the pitch-black sky over the Canadian tundra. Inside the cabin, purple mood lights designed to aid sleep are on. But it’s no use; Jenni needs to work right now, while she still has an internet connection. As they cross over the Arctic and head south, they will rush into the sunlit surface of the planet, experiencing a brief, intense day—with a rapid sunrise, solar noon, and sunset—before the sun goes down again somewhere over central China. Yet Jenni has to work now, meaning she will need to sleep during that short day in order to optimize her internet access.
