“Incoming wormhole!” Helena cried. 

Moments later the Stargate kawooshed from behind the shield.

“I’m receiving the SGC’s IDC. Deactivating the shield.” Upon hearing the words “SGC” Pfluger activated his comms.

“Dang ol’ SGC, man, y’all better pick up, talkin’ ’bout big old snake-head firefight out here by the Gate, man, dem boys got the staff weapons goin’ pew-pew, dang ol’ trees explodin’ man—”

“Unidentified caller, this is General Carter. Please identify yourself and speak clearly,” General Carter said calmly.

“Yessum, Ma’am. Chief Petty Officer Pfluger, Seabees, dang ol’ SG-24 planet, man—talkin’ ’bout Jaffa everywhere, big shiny helmets, staff weapons, whole dang medieval village fixin’ ta get toast!”


“…I’m sorry, Chief, you’re breaking up. Are you under attack?” Carter asked.

“Under attack? Dang ol’ YES ma’am, talkin’ ’bout boom-boom everywhere, man! Need reinforcements like yesterday, man. Send the whole dang alphabet—SG-1, SG-8, SG-whatever-you-got!” Pfluger replied frantically.

Carter was amused by the Texan’s ramblings. She had met some of General Hammond’s relatives over the years and several of them spoke like Pfluger. Trying to stay professional she said:

“Chief, slow down. I need your exact situation.”

“Exact situation is we fixin’ ta be real dead if y’ll don’t send help Ma’am.”

Helena sighed. “General Carter, this is Sister Helena of SG-24. The chief and I are engaged with several Jaffa near the Stargate. Colonel Larkin has authorized me to ask for one SG-Team to assist us as we are too far away for our teams to help us,” the Carmelite said.


“Understood. SG-4 will be joining you shortly. They’ll be bringing your Monstrance as well.”

“Understood, General. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Good luck. Carter out.” 
Within minutes six people emerged from the event horizon. One of them, a woman, carried a large chest with them.

Cate MacGregor quickly surveyed the scene as Sergeants Murphy and McGuire opened fire on the Jaffa. Bullets ricocheted off their breastplates; eventually they fell to the ground.

“Form a perimeter!” Cate ordered.

Major Will Troy and Captain D.J. Castle took up position near the Stargate. Murphy and McGuire spread out about 200 meters in patrol.



Finding a safe spot with Godrick’s men, Pfluger assessed the situation tactically.

“Dang ol’ how many’a them boys ya see out there, Sister? Talkin’ ’bout how many we dealin’ with, man?” Pfluger asked.

“Five!” Helena exclaimed.

“Dang ol’ gonna need reinforcements, man, talkin’ ’bout right dang now, pronto!” said Pfluger.

“Everyone’s too far away from us! Unless…”
The Jaffa came into firing range. Helena reached for her comms.

“Helena to Larkin. Come in,” the Carmelite said while activating her Zat.

“Larkin here.”

“Sir, Pfluger and I have encountered another squad of Jaffa near the Stargate. Requesting backup from the SGC.”

The Jaffa began to fire their staff weapons at their position. Pfluger fired his P90 at their enemy. Godrick’s men fired their arrows as well.

“Very well. One team for now,” Larkin replied.

“Aye sir.”

The Stargate began to activate from offworld.
