"You’re standing in the large,
East facing picture
Window, that
Overlooks
The cul-de-sac
Arms
Outstretched,
To either
Side,
Hands
Planted
On the
Sill, leaning
Forward,
Those ridiculous house
Socks, from your
Toes to your
Knees, with their
White pads like
Teddy bear
Paws
I see you,
You see me
The light between us
Renders you
Somewhat opaque,
Quantum shifting, in a
Slight
Space, of visible
Tremor
Nothing about you is
Certain,
Moment to
Moment,
You phase
Between
The serious girl,
Buried in a Russian
Novel
And the silly
Person, that asks me
Time and
Again, the same
Stupid joke
You: What was the pirate movie rated?
I groan visibly
You: Arrrrrrrr!
Laughter throws those dimpled
Cheeks into stark
Relief, by the sheer
Power of their
Symmetry, I’m
Undone,
Disarmed, by their sudden
Emergence
Something within me becomes
Buoyant
Rises,
To where you
Are"
